Bamboo
Each bamboo straw is made from natural bamboo stalks grown on local farmers’ land . This bamboo is not harvested from farmland , but from cuttings of invasive bamboo plants found on farmers’ properties. This allows farmers to earn extra income from these invasive plants that they used to destroy by burning.
The bamboo is sanded to make it smooth and splinter-free , then boiled and washed to make it hygienic. Since bamboo grows so quickly , it only takes a few hours to make one straw.
Thanks to its sturdy construction , bamboo can go in the dishwasher , but it's also biodegradable , making it the perfect material for reusable straws.
